The Business and Employment Support Programme, a flagship initiative of the YEA, is not going to solely present monetary help to Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) but in addition create job alternatives for the youth. Successful enterprise candidates will obtain monetary help to maintain and broaden their ventures, enabling them to pay salaries to the newly employed youth.
During the launch of the programme in Sunyani on December 11, 2023, Dr. Bawumia emphasised the importance of supporting the youth and underscored the federal government’s dedication to fostering alternatives for younger Ghanaians in each enterprise and employment.
“I am particularly excited about the relief this initiative will provide to the Ghanaian youth. The youth of this country are our greatest resource, and it is our collective duty to ensure that they are well positioned to make significant contributions to the economic development of our dear nation,” Dr. Bawumia said.
The Business and Employment Assistance Programme joins a collection of job creation and enterprise help interventions initiated by the federal government via the YEA. Dr. Bawumia highlighted the profitable piloting of the YouStart programme, with GH 100 million Cedis distributed this 12 months, and different interventions comparable to participating 21,000 youth as Community Police Assistants and Community Health Workers.
Furthermore, collaborations with the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme have resulted within the coaching of 15,000 Ghanaian youth in enterprise expertise, company compliances, and monetary sustainability practices. The Ministry of Food and Agriculture is ready to interact 20,000 youth beneath Phase 2 of the Planting for Food and Jobs programme.
Looking forward, the YEA, in partnership with the Ghana TVET Service and the Ghana Energy Commission, plans to coach 20,000 artisans in varied fields, offering certification and the required instruments and gear for them to ascertain their enterprises.
Kofi Agyapong, the Chief Executive Officer of the YEA, affirmed the company’s dedication to strengthening current modules and creating extra alternatives as a part of its mission to generate employment for the youth.
