The 2023 Ghana philanthropy convention has been held in Accra with a name for coverage restructuring and inclusion of a framework to advertise philanthropy for sustainable growth.
The two-day convention organised by Star Ghana Foundation (SGF) in partnership with Ghana Philanthropy Forum and Africa Philanthropy Network aimed to advertise social change and discovering synergies to construct extra resilient and inclusive societies for financial progress.
Under the theme; ‘Philanthropy for sustainable development: Opportunities, challenges and the future,’ it introduced collectively stakeholders in Ghana’s philanthropic house to debate key points confronting the sector and the best way to discover workable options as a catalyst for change.
The Executive Director, STAR-Ghana Foundation, Alhaji Amidu Ibrahim Tanko, stated the convention would assist to find the best way to maintain philanthropic efforts and transfer past disaster response to restoration and long-term growth.
“It will also help us to move from seeing communities in the geographic sense and move them to the centre of our compositions and actions around philanthropy, involving them as active and conscious participants in the whole enterprise, and to move towards philanthropy that addresses the underlying causes of poverty and exclusion.”

The Executive Director of African Philanthropy Network, Dr Stigmata Tenga stated utilizing non-public sources for social good was an essential funding in reaching Sustainable Development Goal (SDG).
