Lapaz-toyata hitmaker and celebrated highlife artiste Adjei Yeboah Maradona extensively generally known as GURU has received the votes of scholars of the University of Ghana to guide the Students’ Representative Council (SRC).
Provisional outcomes by the Electoral Commission (EC) present Mr. Yeboah polled an awesome 9,455 votes representing 50.7% of the whole legitimate votes forged on the finish of the scholar elections on Wednesday, September 18, 2024.
His closest contender, Emmanuel Owusu Amponsah polled a paltry 6, 645 representing 35.8%.
The different contenders within the Presidential race Emmanuel Mensah, Noah Nii Afotey and Blessing Martey all gathered 378, 1,518 and 458 votes respectively.
The elections which occurred regardless of an interlocutory injunction from the Adenta Circuit Court noticed a complete of 18, 659 votes forged out of an anticipated 59, 629 votes.
For the General Secretary place a run off is anticipated between Deborah Febiri-Damoah and Lorinda Owie Teyehugmeh after they each garnered 5, 642 votes representing 30.2% and eight,713 votes making a share of 46.7% respectively.
Constance Faith Duodu pulled 3, 705 of the whole legitimate votes representing 19.9%. The UGSRC Constitution calls for a candidate to win by a 50% +1 vote.
On the Treasure ticket, Roland Oppong and Jonathan Kankam will go head-to-head in one other run-off after each failed to fulfill the 50%+1 thresholds as mandated.
At the finish of the ballot, Roland Oppong pulled 9,092 votes representing 48.7% whereas Jonathan Kankam and Micheal Arhin Nash each secured 8,120 votes representing 43.5% and 1,026 votes representing 5.5%
The Electoral Commission is but to schedule a date for the run-off.
