MP for Juaboso and the Ranking Member for Health Kwabena Mintah Akandoh has described the federal government’s sod-cutting ceremony to transform the Bono Regional Hospital in Sunyani right into a Teaching Hospital as a hoax.
Health Minister Kwaku Agyemang Manu minimize the sod for the venture on Saturday. However, Mr Mintah Akandoh, in a press release on behalf of the Minority in Parliament, mentioned the federal government’s 2024 finances assertion and monetary estimates learn on Wednesday had no allocation for the development or enlargement of the Sunyani hospital.
“There is no known government policy, financial allocation and the political will to undertake such an expansion of the facility into a teaching facility, and the minister knows there is no allocation in the 2024 budget,” the MP famous.
The sod chopping, he added, is simply one other grandstanding by the federal government to deceive the individuals of Bono and the nation.
Arguing out his case, Hon. Akandoh identified that “… the supposed sod cutting amid an IMF programme and the proximity to an election year is suspicious – especially when the project was not captured in the budget.”
The rating member reminded Ghanaians of the federal government’s failure to fund comparable initiatives promised over time after demolishing the well-functioning La General Hospital and an Accident and Emergency Centre on the Dormaa Hospital.
