Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has challenged heads of public and non-public establishments to discover and implement revolutionary methods to enrich Government’s job creation efforts throughout the nation.
Speaking at Goaso within the Ahafo Region on Wednesday, twenty third November, 2022 Dr Bawumia stated the youth make up a big proportion of Ghana’s inhabitants, and it can be crucial that aware efforts are made to fulfill their employment aspirations.
The Vice President made the decision on the launch of the primary area-led expertise improvement and employment creation intervention, the Ahafo Youth Skills Development and Job Creation Initiative, designed and carried out by the Ahafo Regional Coordinating Council led by Hon George Yaw Boakye, Regional Minister, in collaboration with the non-public sector.
The programme is designed to coach 1,200 youth drawn from all six districts within the area in trades equivalent to Welding, Vulcanizing, General Spraying, ICT, Fashion Designing, Building Construction, Auto Mechanics (Fitting), General Electrical (Auto and Civil), Carpentry and Joinery, Hairdressing, Painting and Decoration.
In addition, every Municipal/District Coordinating Council acquired a cheque of Ghs25,000 to cater for the training of the youth, with a monitoring staff constituted to make sure the trainees undergo the suitable training.
Handing over welding machines, hair dryers, stitching machines, Aluminium ovens, units of instruments (auto mechanics, carpentry, electricals, pedicure, barbering and so forth), trowels, mallets and different instruments to the varied Assemblies, Vice President Bawumia famous that Ghana’s youth as a proportion of the full inhabitants is rising at a speedy tempo.
“The current census performed by the Ghana Statistical Service pegs our present youth inhabitants at 38.2%. Dr Bawumia urged the programme implementers to “inculcate entrepreneurship and soft skills training into the curriculum since trainees will be given the much needed start-up capital to set up their enterprises. Efforts must also be made to connect the beneficiaries to the market to encourage patronage of their services.”
Nana Kwasi Bosomprah I, President and Omanhene of the Goaso Traditional Council who was Chairman for the event, urged the trainees and the Assemblies to imbibe the tradition of upkeep, mentioning that the end result of this primary cohort will largely decide the way forward for the programme.
