The demolition of parts of the Budumburam Refugees Camp within the Central Area is predicted to start as we speak, Thursday, September 30, 2021. The train is to be undertaken by the Gomoa East Meeting.
District Chief Govt on the Gomoa East, Mr Solomon Darko-Quarm, has acknowledged that nothing can cease or change the assemblies plans of demolishing constructions on the camp as we speak because the order is from a better workplace.
Some indignant residents of the Budumburam camp popularly often known as the Liberian camp, have threatened to defy a directive to maneuver out of the camp by Thursday, September 30.
The residents insist they’ve nowhere to maneuver to and can face off with anybody who makes an attempt to forcibly eject them.
In keeping with them, the Liberia Embassy has uncared for them because the Ghana authorities requested them to return to their residence nation.
Some residents in an interview stated, nothing will make them transfer out of the camp including that they aren’t criminals as being speculated by Chiefs and Elders of the world.
They disclosed that the Gomoa East Meeting has given some refugees 400 cedis every to hunt a brand new place to dwell.
Nevertheless, another Liberian Refugees and residents of the camp have began packing their belongings out of the camp.
