The Vice President of the Republic, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia says he has set a strong monitor report in preventing corruption in Ghana.
According to him, he has, since his choice as Vice President to help President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in managing the financial system, distinguished himself as a pacesetter.
He famous that he has publicly established a transparent purpose that he would not tolerate corrupt practices and recounted that he has undertaken, particularly in his digitalization campaign, quite a few initiatives to cease establishments from partaking in corruption.
“I entered politics to save the nation. My passion is solving problems, the vulnerable and the disadvantaged in society. Accumulation of wealth is not and has never been a passion or an ambition. This is why, through out my public life, I have pursued policies especially through digitalization to check corruption in places like the ports, the DVLA, the NHIS, the passport office and the Controller and Accountant-General Department. So, I have a solid track record in fighting corruption and I have earned a reputation for doing so”, he mentioned in a speech delivered on the UPSA-Ghana on Wednesday, February 7, 2024.
The Vice President additional said he has championed many initiatives geared toward enhancing the financial system, emphasizing “I have with the support of the President, I have the honor and the privilege to be given the opportunity to initiate, champion or oversee many problem-solving policy initiatives”.
“As Vice President, I am like a driver’s mate but, by the grace of God, if you make me the President, I will in the driver’s seat with constitutionally mandated authority to pursue my vision and my priorities”, he burdened.
Dr. Bawumia implored Ghanaians to offer him the presidential seat promising he is not going to allow them to down.
“Clearly the initial conditions that we inherited in 2017 are not the same as will be in 2025. Therefore, my priorities will be different. We have done many good things and I will be seeking to build upon them.”
He added; “My vision is to create a tent big enough to accommodate all our people to tap into the resourcefulness and talents of our people irrespective of our different ethnic, political and religious backgrounds to channel our energies into building the kind of country that assures food self-sufficient, safe, prosperous and dignified future for all Ghanaians, to create sustainable jobs with meaningful pay for all and for Ghana to participate fully in the fourth industrial revolution using systems and data.”
