A 38-year-old lady has been convicted to 90 days imprisonment by the Asamakese Circuit Courtroom for defrauding by pretense, opposite to part 131 of the Felony Offenses Act 29/60.
Gifty Arthur, the convict, pleaded responsible and was convicted on her plea when she appeared earlier than the courtroom presided over by His Honour Abubakari Abass Adams.
Sergeant Samuel Owusu, the prosecution officer, advised the courtroom that the complainants, on this case, are members of the Apostolic Church-Ghana at Asuaba, close to Adeiso whereas the convict is a dealer from Kwadaso-Kumasi.
He stated on August, 8, at about 10:00 am, the complainants have been having church service when the accused individual joined them and launched herself as a philanthropist who offers loans to individuals in want.
He defined that the complainants confirmed curiosity and paid numerous sums of monies totaling ¢2,500.00 to her to facilitate loans for them.
After receiving the cash, she absconded.
The prosecution assertion stated the convict went into hiding however a member of the church noticed her at Suhum and alerted the Police to arrest her.
She was later transferred to the Adeiso District Police command for investigation and prosecution.
