A policeman who allegedly had intercourse with a feminine convict being held on the Nkanfoa Police Station in Cape Coast has been remanded by a Cape Coast Justice of the Peace Courtroom.
Lance Corporal Isaac Apomah, 36, allegedly launched the suspect, 29, in alternate for intercourse at daybreak final Saturday.
She had been convicted in a theft case and was in police custody on the Nkanfoa Police Station awaiting sentencing.
On the courtroom yesterday, L/Cpl Apomah was charged with rape and aiding the escape of a convict.
He was remanded to seem once more on October 12, 2021.
Information
Presenting the case, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Daniel Mensah instructed the courtroom that L/Cpl Apomah was the station officer on the Nkanfoa Police Station on September 25, 2021.
He mentioned round 12 a.m. that day, L/Cpl Apomah despatched 4 sachets of ‘Abe Nsuo’, additionally referred to as ‘One Present’, to the station and gave some to the complainant, who was a remand prisoner on the station, to drink.
ASP Mensah instructed the courtroom that the suspect gave the complainant two sachets of the drink, which she drank.
He mentioned round 3 a.m. on Saturday, L/Cpl Apomah instructed the complainant that the detective dealing with her case was being troublesome and that he may let her go free if she would let him have intercourse together with her.
He mentioned she agreed and had sexual activity together with her after which he opened up the cells for her to have her bathtub.

“Apomah then gathered her gadgets, which have been being stored in police custody, together with a cell phone, and put them on the entrance of the police station and signalled her to run away,” ASP Mensah mentioned.
Re-arrest
Having gained her ‘freedom’, she went to her father-in-law, who, on listening to what had occurred, took her to the Bakaano Police Station to report the incident.
He mentioned she was rearrested and handed over to the Kotokuraba Police for investigations.
