“It should be positioned on file that when it comes to murder, be it first-diploma homicide or second-diploma homicide or in our case manslaughter or both intentional killing or negligent killing, there are a number of intervening components as a result of assuming that what police stated is true and that he was choked on a international substance, it implies that whereas this substance was within the throat of this younger man, police managed to apprehend him.
(*7*) he requested, replying later that he might have been taken to the closest well being facility to get the substance eliminated and used as exhibit.
He stated if the deceased’s palms weren’t even handcuffed, his fingers would have been inserted into his throat to get him to spue the international substance.
“But police handcuffs the man, leaves him on the ground, and get others to both beat him or tase him on the ground till he died on the ground and so in recounting occasions main to the loss of life of this particular person, police conveniently blight all this stuff and easily say it’s as a result of he bought choked of international substance.
“For me, police is being disingenuous, police is not being truthful, police is not being candid and that is bad policing,” the lawyer, who can be Member of Parliament for Madina, stated.
In their assertion, the police stated the put up-mortem examination finished within the presence of stakeholders together with the deceased’s lawyer proved that he had been choked on a international substance which later examined constructive for narcotics.
“The narrative of occasions, as gathered by the police, indicated that throughout the course of the arrest, the deceased pulled out a substance from his bag, which he rapidly swallowed earlier than anybody might cease him.
“He became unconscious shortly afterwards and was taken to the Sonotech Clinic for medical attention but was pronounced dead on arrival.”
But lawyer Sosu stated the police can’t absolve themselves of blame on this incident and they’re rigorously taking a posture to escape legal responsibility.
“We are demanding a quantity of issues that inside the subsequent seven days, the police ought to open up this investigation and make it possible for anyone who is complicit is introduced to guide.
“Otherwise, we call for the immediate resignation of the IGP. If he fails to resign we are going to petition the President to remove him from office because you cannot be the head of police and see your officers misbehave this way and yet you want to use your own system to cover up for them.”
