Dr. Benjamin Otchere-Ankrah can not fathom why the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, is dilly-dallying with the anti-LGBTQ+ invoice.
The invoice, which upholds Ghanaian household values and proper human intercourse orientation, has been handed by Parliament prohibiting gay actions in Ghana.
The invoice prescribes a minimal sentence of six months to five years imprisonment for any individual concerned within the promotion, advocacy, and/or practices of the LGBTQ+ group.
However, the invoice has not but turn into regulation because it awaits the President’s assent.
Many Ghanaians, together with Dr. Benjamin Otchere-Ankrah, a governance lecturer on the Central University, have known as on the President to signal the invoice, whereas the worldwide group, alternatively, advises him to not assent to it, describing the invoice as inhumane and a hazard to LGBTQ+ folks.
In response, the President has admonished Parliament to not transmit the invoice for his assent, citing Supreme Court circumstances difficult its constitutionality.
Touching briefly on the president’s angle and response to the invoice, Dr. Otchere-Ankrah, on Peace FM’s morning present “Kokrokoo” issued a stern warning to Nana Akufo-Addo.
“Whether the President will sign or not, may posterity judge him,” he accentuated.
