Mobile Money (MoMo) brokers throughout the nation have agreed to institute a measure to restrict money withdrawals to a most of GH¢1,000 per transaction efficient Friday, December 1, 2023.
They say the non permanent measure is to make sure the brokers get truthful compensation for his or her providers.
Four MoMo Associations, particularly: the Northern MoMo Agents Association of Ghana (NOMAAG), the Mobile Money Advocacy Group (MOMAG), the Mobile Money Agents Association Ghana (MMAAG), and the ABAG, outlined the choice in a joint assertion.
They declare the transfer is to not inconvenience their clients however slightly to carry their consideration to the paltry fee they make from their providers.
The associations goal to make use of this non permanent restriction as a way to underscore the need for a sustainable business mannequin that ensures truthful compensation for Mobile Money brokers.
“During this period, we will continue to actively engage with service providers to address the commission review concerns raised,” the Associations said. “If, within the one-month period, there is no favourable adjustment, we will regrettably have to implement further action plans.”
The Associations have issued a name to all stakeholders, together with clients, urging their help within the pursuit of truthful compensation for MoMo brokers.
They have expressed that having truthful compensation and equitable reward for all MoMo events is the sustainability of MoMo providers in Ghana.
“We urge you to join us in mobilizing support for fair compensation to Mobile Money Agents,” they added.
