Former President John Dramani Mahama has celebrated Ghana‘s hardworking and devoted farmers and fishers as we speak Friday December 1 on the event of the National Farmers’ Day 2023.
He acknowledged that today is devoted to recognising the efforts of farmers in making certain meals security and contributing to our economy.
This 12 months’s theme, “Delivering Smart Solutions for Sustainable Food Security and Resilience,” highlights the significance of innovation and resilience in agriculture he mentioned.
“As we have fun our farmers as we speak, we should acknowledge the necessity for sensible options inside a 24-hour economic system to make sure sustainable meals safety for our nation.
“The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is dedicated to bringing back the joy of farming and revolutionising the agricultural sector. We aim to achieve food self-sufficiency through a policy that supports large-scale commercial agricultural production. This will be propelled by a robust cooperative system that will benefit from Farmers Service Centres established nationwide to drive access to agricultural credit and inputs,” the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress mentioned in an announcement.
He added “We will introduce agro-processing models in all areas so as to add worth to our agricultural merchandise and create extra alternatives for all farmers. Establishing agricultural processing crops will goal crops reminiscent of palm, cashew, groundnuts, cotton, espresso, cocoa, soya, cassava, shea nuts, cereals, ginger, spices, reduce flowers, fruits and horticultural merchandise.
“On this occasion, I want to assure our farmers that the next NDC government will prioritise their welfare and work tirelessly to ensure they have the necessary resources and support to thrive. Our farmers are the backbone of our economy, and we will continue to invest in their success. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all Ghanaian farmers on this special day.”
