We’re bringing you our predictions for the DFB Pokal Final which will be played between RB Leipzig and Eintracht Frankfurt this Saturday at 19:00 GMT. RB Leipzig look to retain the DFB Pokal this weekend with the 2021/22 success being their only major domestic trophy to date. Frankfurt have a great history with this competition, lifting the title on five previous occasions, but haven’t tasted success since the 2017/18 campaign.

RB Leipzig cruised through to the DFB Pokal final earlier this month, smashing Freiburg 5-1. Olmo opened the scoring in the 13th minute and fewer than 60-seconds later, Henrichs made it 2-0. Leipzig scored two more goals before the break through Szoboszlai and Nkunku and while Freiburg pulled a goal back in the second half, a Szoboszlai penalty made it 5-1 deep into stoppage time. Peter Gulacsi is the main injury concern for the favourite this weekend and isn’t expected back in training until late June.

Frankfurt had to come from behind and then hold on late on against Stuttgart in the other semi-final. Frankfurt fell behind in the 19th minute and trailed at the interval. However, two early goals from Ndicka and Kamada put Frankfurt into the driving seat and a penalty from Muani made it 3-1 in the 77th minute. Stuttgart pulled a goal back 7-minutes from time but Frankfurt held firm to secure their place in the final. Rode, Alario and Smolcic all look set to miss the cup final through injury.

Player to Watch: Timo Werner
Werner never lived up to the hype during his time in the Premier League with Chelsea but looks more like his old self back in an RB Leipzig shirt.
The 27-year-old German international has scored 9-goals in the Bundesliga this season which isn’t amazing but he has played a major role in the club’s progression through to the DFB Pokal final. Werner has scored 5-goals in the cup, three more than any other RB Leipzig player and you wouldn’t bet against him scoring against Frankfurt on Saturday.
Werner has also chipped in with two Champions League goals this season and the former Chelsea man is due a goal this weekend after failing to score in any of his last six games for RB Leipzig, since scoring twice against Augsburg back in April.
