500 players updated
Following the conclusion of the Turkish Süper Lig season, Transfermarkt has completed another market value update of the league and as a result offered new market value updates to no less than 500 players plying their trade in the country. And perhaps the two most intriguing names to keep an eye on are young stars that could soon become household names across European football.

Boey and Güler the stars of 22/23 Süper Lig
Perhaps the most interesting one to Premier League fans is none other than Galatasaray full-back Sacha Boey, who gained the largest market value increase across the entire league. Prior to the update, the France U21 star had a value of €11 million, but that has now increased to €16m. “He’s a high-flyer and had a great season,” noted Gökhan Yagmur, Area Manager for Transfermarkt Turkey. “But more than that is how coveted he is, because French players always have a good market and €16m could be just the beginning.”
Indeed, since making the move from Rennes to Istanbul for just €1.15m the young defender has gone from strength to strength. Although a hamstring injury ruled him out for most of his first season at the club, Boey confirmed himself as a first team starter at Galatasaray this season and bagged one goal and four assists in 31 league appearances. Such performances have reportedly drawn interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs, with Fabrizio Romano reporting at the start of the month that Arsenal have already made a proposal to the Turkish club for their young defender.

The most valuable players in the Turkish Süper Lig
However, Boey isn’t the only young player lighting up the Turkish top-flight in 2023. While Galatasaray may have their young defender to cheer on, their cross-city rivals Fenerbahce have their own exciting star in the form of attacking midfielder Arda Güler. Having come through the club’s youth ranks and breaking into the first team last season, the 18-year-old talent used the 22/23 season to establish himself as a regular for his boyhood club and bagged an impressive five goals and five assists in all competitions.
As a result, Güler saw his market value increase dramatically in the market value update and saw his value increase from €4m to €15m, moving the 18-year-old midfielder into the top 10 most valuable players in the Süper Lig. “A talent of the century! So good that he reached a market value of €15m at the age of 18 – no one in the Süper Lig has managed that before,” noted Yagmur on the young Fenerbahce talent. “A lot of clubs are watching him, but he’s almost certainly not going to leave just yet. Now it’s important to see if he manages to make the step into a seasoned player next season, to take on more responsibility and show himself as a leader. Then we’ll see if he has what it takes to be an international star or a good Süper Lig player.”
