The National Chairman of the most important opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has backlashed President Akufo-Addo for his alleged refusal to append his signature to the Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill, generally generally known as the anti-LGBTQI+ Bill handed by the Parliament of Ghana.
Johnson Asiedu Nketiah acknowledged that the President’s hesitance to brazenly declare his stance on the anti-LGBTQI+ Bill is a mirrored image of an absence of braveness and accountability as chief of the nation.
In an interview with Asempa FM on Wednesday, March 27, General Mosquito as he’s popularly identified, criticised the President for allegedly utilizing the Judiciary to keep away from taking a definitive place on the invoice.
He argued that if President Akufo-Addo actually meant to behave on the Bill, he would have achieved so by now, urging Ghanaians to exert stress on the President to make his stance identified and stop evading the topical challenge.

Nevertheless, Mr Asiedu Nketiah highlighted a disparity between the statements made in Parliament and the actions observed outside its chambers.
“He doesn’t want people to know that he is not in support of the anti-LGBT+ bill that is why there are some heddles. That is the truth.
“If he had been in a position to stand his floor to say that he was not in assist of the invoice, his MPs would have additionally stood their floor to say that they weren’t in assist.
“But he’s not in a position to say that and his MPs additionally don’t need to disagree for them to be tagged versus the invoice. In parliament, all of them say they agree however once they transfer out, they act in a different way,” he added.
